January 2026 at Singularity Maine Coons: Legal Basics, Pricing & Transparency
(A Letter From Me to You)
Happy New Year and welcome to January, all my cat lovers.
Even though this blog technically began in December, January is where I’m intentionally setting the foundation for what this space is really about. New year, fresh start, and a clear focus: legal basics, pricing realities, and full transparency when it comes to Maine Coon kittens.
These are the questions that land in my inbox over and over again. How much does a Maine Coon actually cost? Why are some kittens priced so low? What should you legally receive when purchasing a kitten? And how do you know you’re working with a breeder who is doing things the right way?
So get cozy grab a warm drink and come along with me this month as I wanted to sit down and talk through them properly honestly, clearly, and without pressure.
January felt like the right time to do this. It’s when people slow down after the holidays, start planning ahead, and seriously research bringing a kitten into their lives. It’s also when many people are the most vulnerable to misleading information and listings that look too good to be true.
So this month, I’m focusing on three core topics that all tie back to one idea: understanding what you’re paying for, and why it matters.
I’ll be talking about why cheap Maine Coon kittens are almost always a red flag not because every low priced kitten comes from bad intentions, but because ethical breeding simply has real costs. We’ll look at what’s often missing behind those low prices and how cutting corners early can lead to heartbreak later.
I’m also diving into what you’re really paying for when you buy a Maine Coon kitten. This is the behind the scenes post about health testing, veterinary care, nutrition, socialization, time, and responsibility. The parts no one sees when they’re scrolling listings, but the parts that make all the difference in the long run.
And finally, I’ll be addressing the question everyone asks sooner or later: how much does a Maine Coon actually cost? Realistic numbers, why pricing varies, and what you should be prepared for financially before you ever bring one home.
Transparency matters to me probably more than anything else in this space. I really want to close that gap between us breeders and our pet parents. I’ve spoken with too many people who come to me after something has gone wrong. No contract. No health guarantees. A sick kitten. Or simply feeling misled and unsure of what they agreed to.
My goal with this month isn’t to convince anyone to buy a kitten from me. It’s to give you the information you need to make confident, informed decisions whether that leads you to my cattery or somewhere else entirely as every breeder is not for every person and vise versa.
If someone reads these posts and decides a Maine Coon isn’t the right fit for them, that’s a success in my book. If they move forward feeling educated and protected, that’s an even bigger one.
If you’ve been here since December, thank you for sticking around as this blog took shape. And if January is your first stop here, I’m really glad you found your way in.
This year, this space is about honest conversations, ethical breeding, and setting realistic expectations and January is just the beginning.
Here’s to transparency, education, and doing right by this incredible breed.
💙
